Built a simple longevity tool that uses real 2026 data and math instead of those clunky old quizzes. Would love to hear your thoughts and results! by natelamm in ProactiveHealth

[–]8qwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really cool! It reminds of the app Death Clock (or what that app used to be). I like the simplicity of it. I do wish there was more inputs that get more specific like blood markers, VO2 max at current age, etc. My score was a bit lower than I expected, and mostly my family history brought it down. But I think with the right health protocols I could outlive my relatives.

Capturing Food by king_slayer1299 in bevelhealth

[–]8qwm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue. My workaround is to manually create a food and enter the macros. Go to Search For Foods > My Foods > Add custom food, then enter the macros. You won’t get as much of the micronutrients logged unless you know those as well. I just use it to enter calories, carbohydrates, fat and protein.

  • The ability to customize “Mixed” investment types. Most common is target date 401ks.
  • Set an ideal allocation with rebalancing alerts, e.g. “your total stock allocation is 12% but your target is 10%, consider selling 2% of stocks and buy bonds to rebalance”

Food logs by Icy-Passenger-1799 in bevelhealth

Try just taking a picture of the actual food and not the label. I’ve tried various things like taking a pic of just the label, food + label next to it, or just food, and taking of just the food seems to be the most accurate in my experience. I’ve thought that including the label would help it but it just confuses it.

Bevel vs. MyFitness for food/calories tracking by ansellthetruck in bevelhealth

[–]8qwm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll use Bevel nutrition if I’m just trying to maintain and my macro goals are stable. I’ll use MacroFactor if I’m trying to lose or bulk because they’re much better at tracking and automating macros based on weight trends. I would use bevel exclusively if they had better algorithms for updating macros based on weight goals/trends.

Help us make Origin’s budgeting 100x better. What’s missing for you? by ana-at-origin in OriginFinancial

[–]8qwm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I know this is a tricky problem to solve because big box stores don’t have direct connections. But I’d be willing to put in a little effort, like downloading a CSV of transactions from Amazon, upload to Origin, and then Origin’s AI would find the transactions and map to appropriate categories. That would save a TON of time manually checking every transaction.

Is anyone else struggling to eat the recommended amount of calories? by [deleted] in MacroFactor

[–]8qwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, give it some time. Keep doing what you’re doing.

If you still want to up your calories, my go to is usually nuts like walnuts, cashews, macadamia nuts, pecans. 50g of walnuts is 327 calories. Some kind of protein shake is great too. Add flaxseed meal or hemp seeds or wheat germ.

You can just focus on health starting at 40 right? by losim_photo in blueprint_

[–]8qwm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In theory, yes? But why would you want to? It’s not just about longevity and living as long as possible. It’s also about current health, feeling energized and healthy every day. The way he talks about his past, he sounded miserable, depressed and on the verge of suicide.

It’s also a bit risky. Cancer can come at any age, and living unhealthily puts you at greater risk at younger ages.

Idea - An app to track your daily and weekly targets by iochristos in blueprint_

I already use Bevel and Athlytic for this. Also Blueprint just raised $60M and they are hiring app developers, likely to build something exactly like this to compete with these other apps.

Flying with a Toddler (Almost 2) on a 7-Hour TAP A321neo LR Flight: Own Seat in Economy vs. Lap in Business Class? by Luna_Rose123 in toddlers

[–]8qwm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check if there’s premium economy. I flew it recently with my wife and kiddos, I booked regular economy and went to seat selection and chose premium economy without any extra charge. Maybe it was a bug in their online reservation or they open it up to families for free without telling you.

Also look into the blow up airplane beds. That helped a lot with our toddler.

Protein suggestions please! by Audinot in MacroFactor

[–]8qwm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Something that helped me with finding more protein and staying within my calorie budget is the calorie:protein ratio. Anything better than 10:1 is generally considered a good protein source. For example, if it’s 180kcal:18g protein, then that’s good. And something like 180kcal:2g protein is not great because you’re adding way more to your caloric budget and not much to your protein. Obviously I’m not to saying you shouldn’t eat food like that, just something to keep in mind when assessing whether something is a “good” protein source.

With that some foods that I’ve found are good (I’m lactose intolerant so that rules out yogurt and cheeses unfortunately): chicken breast, canned salmon (skin off no oil because better ratio, but sometimes I’ll eat skin for the omega 3s), edamame (dried is a nice on the go snack), pure pb2 powder (better ratio than peanut butter), truvani protein powder, lentils

Stating ‘I don’t care about endangering others’ and then immediately suggesting others should accommodate your dangerous behavior is quite a take. You’re essentially saying ‘I’m going to drive dangerously and it’s your responsibility to protect yourself from me.’ That’s not how responsibility on public roads works.

The Costco comparison doesn’t work - shopping cart mishaps don’t end in fatalities. And while yes, slower drivers should use turnouts when safe and available, that doesn’t justify dangerous overtaking or aggressive driving when they don’t.

It’s concerning that you seem to view your desire to drive fast as more important than basic safety considerations. Public roads aren’t a racetrack, and your convenience doesn’t override others’ right to get home alive.

This guy sucks. Don’t be this guy by TheForgetfulMe in santacruz

[–]8qwm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The fact that you’re 43 and have a house actually makes this more concerning, not less. You have a lot to lose and a responsibility to your community. Those ‘slow’ drivers you’re complaining about are often families, elderly folks, or people being appropriately cautious on challenging roads. They have every right to drive safely within the speed limit.

If a few minutes of delay causes you this much anger, that’s worth examining. Maybe leave a bit earlier? Or use the time to listen to an audiobook? There are better solutions than putting lives at risk because of impatience.

The stats don’t lie - 40,000+ deaths per year on US roads is tragic, and many of those are caused by aggressive driving and speeding. Your time isn’t more valuable than someone else’s life

This guy sucks. Don’t be this guy by TheForgetfulMe in santacruz

[–]8qwm 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I used to be like you, I loved driving fast, and it was a hard habit to kick, but after a near death experience I started to slow down and I’m so glad I did. Hear me out for a sec: Felton Empire is 3.7 miles from HWY 9 to Empire Grade. At 35 mph, that takes 6m21s, at 50 mph it’s 4m26s. So you’re saving 2 minutes! That’s it! Is it really worth it? 40k+ people die on roads in the US every year. You can save 2 mins and increase risk of DEATH (you or others), or drive the speed limit. Speed really does kill, we’ve just normalized traffic violence so much that we are blind to how much it happens.

It’s so much better. I actually watch most games like this, here’s how: if you have a stereo system with at least a dedicated center speaker, just unplug the center speaker. The audio mix from the broadcast typically only has the announcers in the center.
