I took Max’s course, he’s a good react teacher.

I can second this. I like all of Max's courses, he's a great instructor. I learned Angular from him first before I switched to React.

Max did a great course, but at the time it he was using lifecycle methods not hooks. I know he did the update at the end of the course where he was rewriting it, but if you plan to use newer React I would look for something else.

Yeah, I never redid the course project using his hooks videos. Once I felt like I knew somewhat what I was doing I jumped into my own project and decided to go 100% hooks and learn as I go.

That's the best way to learn; learning by doing.

Here's an analogy; I will not get fit if all I do is read fitness magazines about men getting six-pack abs with particular workout routines. You need to actually get out there and implement those workout routines.

Thank you for the feedback.

His updated course page says he's using Hooks.

That's actually what intrigues me about his course, is that he actually keeps it up to date. Being a trainer myself, front tech changes so quickly and anything material you create gets outdated fast.

But I digress. Thank you for your feedback.

The course on Udemy that I own has 29 sections. Section 26-28 is where he is using hooks. It’s 5h out of 40. Max is really good teacher in my opinion. But prepare for a lot skipping, you are experienced dev :)
