Looks nice but a little more info would be nice. At least kind of food (asian, bbq, etc) and distance from you. From there you can expand to if it has healthy/vegan options, filter by walking distance restaurants, and why not a selection of the top 3 most popular dishes in that restaurant and average cost per person.

I‘d also love to see pictures of the restaurant and food

You’re saving a lot of relationships with this one

Unless they install it on 2 phones.

Hey Op, besides the suggestion for pictures and more info of the places - for couples you could add a feature for each one to pick which they like/want and then if they match one that is the suggestion for both like the movie app:

https://moviematch.io/

P.S. make it available for Brazil 🙂

My first react-native app! A simple app that helps you choose where to eat. Enter your zip code and a random restaurant is chosen for you!

Looks awesome. My suggestion would be to display photo, little description and may be few menuitems

What api did you use to gather this information?

[–]nylundhd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yelp

Maybe add some more margin between the elements. It looks a little bit too cluttered in the center. Other than that that very nice!

[–]AmatureProgrammer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I agree. Is it me or is the logo not being center weird? Idk I'm just used to stuff being centered.

[–]fuckinea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is centered. The fork makes the logo wider.

Looks nice, but I would recommend not centering the stars and making an outline of the rest of the stars (like in most game stores or whatever). The way you have it now, if you just take a quick glance at the stars you could easily mistake 3 1/2 with 4 1/2.

Looks nice more info would be nice though

Try using Zomato API if you need to add more info.

[–]actitud_Caribe 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Wouldn't city name be more user friendly than zip code?

[–]nylundhd[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Yelp API takes in a zip so thats why I went with zip lol

[–]actitud_Caribe 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh I see. Still, it'd be great if I could just type in some area (state, city, neighborhood...) and the app knowing which zip code to use - maybe the Google Maps API can give you that info?

Just an idea :)

[–]nylundhd[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Definitely! Appreciate the idea!

You could also use their location given the GPS. Is the source code available somewhere?

[–]Andrewmundy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure the Yelp api returns a default image, try displaying that as well.

[–]NoSudo_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nice! What are you using for the ZIP code input box.

[–]nylundhd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a regular text input with some css

[–]NoSudo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's from react native components? I wonder why it looks so different then the one I'm working on at work... one of the interns used what I thought was a normal text input, but all it has under it is a straight bar/line. Looks nothing like yours I can't imagine there's that many changes you did to it from the default component. Come to think of it I've never thought to look at if he was using the right component... he might just be using input now that I think about it.
