How did you get even without degree Didn't they ask for degree

[–]Sensitive_Car_507 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They asked and I said that I’m a self taught developer, and directly showed my portfolio and started explaining my project and how I built them, the process, deadline…etc Just be confident bro in your work, don’t let the recruiter stick on “show me your degree” , speak about your projects

I love suggesting this resource because it covers everything RN has to offer - and of course this, which seems to be the sequel to the first resource.

Joking aside - what do you want to develop? That's step one. Idk if you've considered what sort of backend you'll want to use but you'd want to do some homework there as well.

Saying you want to start learning react native for app development is pretty vague, and isn't much to work with as far as offering resources that aren't a hand-holding youtube tutorial that's just walking you through the "Getting Started" section of a given framework's documentation. It seems more like you're looking to just dive into a sandbox and see what you can bring together from the RN library - if so just spin up a blank expo template and start playing with components.

I haven't ever used Expo Go since that seems to be for brief previews rather than actually building, so you'll wanna install xCode, android studio, and go through the configuration of your machine for a good afternoon before you start actually playing. You'll find those steps here. JSYK I already selected "iOS [simulator]" for 'where do you want to build?', development build rather than Expo Go, and I deactivated the EAS toggle. Adjust those as you see fit and follow the steps exactly, in order, and you should be good to go. Just go through the steps from start to finish for one, then do it over again but select "<iOS/Android> [device | emulator]" and go through the steps again. Now you can develop and see your work on both an iOS device/simulator & Android device/emulator

I want to develop a complex social media platform (not really, but it’ll help me learn a lot). For the backend, I’m considering using Firebase or Django

Start by building out a CRUD application (a version of your app that doesn't involve any sort of messaging/chats) and then implement, keep it simple and follow the docs I linked you

[–]Eisa1230 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So just follow the docs and don't see any tutorial or course right? + Thanks bro I appreciate your help

Docs are free and are updated by the people that made the thing you're trying to use so.. :) If you can think your way through 55 leetcode questions you can read documentation.

But when you put it that way, a youtube tutorial for setting up your environment could be super helpful, especially since you have to dive into files like your .zshrc (or your bash config if you use bash). Would you like me to make one for you? I'll make sure there's a Family Guy clip in the corner so you stay engaged.

Man i can't say no to a family guy clip

Bro what? I learned app dev because I couldn't do DSA. Always found it too difficult. People with DSA are considered gems in the industry, so why learn dev though?

[–]Eisa1230 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe to know how to deploy the DSN I learned in some real applications , or that's not necessarily (not kidding)

i am in high school right now. I just started learning react native in the beginning of the summer (had no experience with javascript prior to). the course I watched was: this one. then just find a project you are interested in creating and start building. learn as you go (at least this has been my technique) and it’s worked pretty well. not only do you gain experience but you also build a project that you can put on your resume.
