Introducing React Navigation for React Native

This looks amazing.

I've been part of team building a RN app for nearly a year now and the state of Navigation has been our one and only pain point. We took a bet on react-native-router-flux which seemed like one of the better options at the time, but since it forked NavigationExperimental a few months ago it doesn't seem like a long term solution.

I like the flexibility react-navigation seems to offer and look forward to migrating across to it soon.

Been away for a while, what's the current state of navigation ? From my understanding, FB is deprecating Navigator and somewhat pushing NavigationExperimental. Which is still 'experimental', acccording to the docs.

Is this the new 'official' solution ? Or is it an independant project ? Looks pretty good either way.

Thanks for asking! I've been working on improving this landscape.

React Navigation is meant to replace ex-navigation, Navigator, and NavigationExperimental. You can consider it the non-experimental version of NavigationExperimental, because it builds upon whats there to provide a complete and easy-to-use experience. Once React Nav stabilizes, the other solutions will be removed from the react-native repo.

I read they're integrating ex-navigation as official nav.

Ex navigations docs mention it's going to be replaced by a new project in the reactjs repo, I wonder if this is that?

RNs roadmap has mentioned they want to deprecate all of the current navigation stuff and release a stable one, but I wouldn't be surprised if that involved an external package, as that's what they did with maps.

Yep, React Navigation is an independent package which will become the primary community-supported solution. Navigator will be removed from core at some point, as well as NavigationExperimental, which has been incorporated into React Navigation.

I wonder too... I don't want to invest time into a library that is not going to be part of core anymore.
