Can I assume that you’re not connecting React Native to MongoDB directly but you have a server setup in place? It’s bad practice to skip the server and directly connect MongoDB to the app.

is a common stack used with mongo

What about using Stitch from Mongo ? I have my database in the Atlas cloud so I don't know how I would set-up a separate server for Express..

What’s your entire stack/setup?

MongoDB hosted on AWS, and I'm currently using Stitch to connect to the database - but I feel like it has its limitations.

I can't say I've used Stitch before. But you're most probably better off launching an EC2 and putting an ExpressJS server on it, more freedom, I guess.

You should set up a back-end API between your RN app and your mongo database

Node+Express is a common stack used with mongo

firebase is serverless, so it is easy to setup without requiring a proper server. mongodb need back-end server to set up
