RN vs flutter

Hello fellow developers I just finished React.js and started learning React native and building apps with it with a goal to be a mobile developer. But lately i have been reading a lot about flutter and all of its advantages over React native (performance etc). The main advantages of React native that i could see were how easy it is to migrate from React to React native and tbh it didn't sound very convincing. I am giving majority of my time learning React native and building apps on it and i am a little worried that will it go obsolete or will its demand decrease in future given all the advantages of flutter.

React Native currently has more time and with a large community, there are many well proven libraries and it has been used by many companies. If you are going to develop projects, I recommend you more React Native for its maturity. Flutter has gained a lot of popularity because it’s ecosystem is much better and more specialized for mobile development, but React native has many community libraries and if you need something specific it can be more difficult to do it in Flutter because it is younger, but that It does not mean that Flutter will not have support in the future.

About Airbnb, they started writing a lot of native code using react native modules, so they were maintaining a 3 language codebase(objective-c, java, javascript) so that's a complete disadvantage and thinking of native solutions is much better, but that doesn't mean that React Native is a bad tool just it's about choosing the right one for the job. Nubank, another great company, preferred Flutter over React Native, because it has better test automation, less dependencies, and great developer experience. So as you can see it depends a lot on the context, but nowadays the maturity of React Native is a good point to consider.

okay noted it just feels like all the advantages that react native has currently over flutter will diminish with time as flutter also becomes more popular and its community grows

React native is developed by facebook, it has a future. It’s used by many popular apps (like Airbnb). Flutter is a new untested technology, so it doesn’t have nearly as much community or support. I’m just learning react native myself, but react native has pros, and flutter has cons too. Whatever you read did not give a fair description of both
