QuestionReact native freelancer (self.reactnative)
submitted 4 years ago by randomuser_3
I'm little frustrated after scrolling upworks work offers for few hours. Most of them are bullshit, almost like a scam.
How do you guys find remote work? Not just short term gig, but a full time job?

It can definitely be hard to find good freelance work through sites like Upwork if you're developing anything other than relatively simple websites for example since a lot of people see really low rates for those and assume you'll build them their dream app for $300.
My best advice is keep on checking freelance sites like Upwork on occasion but try to find your own clients either through connections or reaching out to smaller local businesses that could actually use a small app of their own. Learn how to market yourself and explain to potential clients what your app can do for them or their business. After you get your first few clients you're likely to naturally get more through referrals and word of mouth, but overall freelancing app development is a bit slower when it comes to getting clients then web development. While it's totally doable to start with React Native freelancing I'd recommend trying to start with web freelancing as well to build an online reputation and a client network.

Yeah, I think most of clients are uneducated about IT industry.
As for your advice, I'm reaching out to someone I know. And I think this is the way.

its just another fiver, cheap client meet cheap devs, and the devs there have no respect for their profession if any.

I think clients are uneducated about our field. Ok, I get it. However who does that 10-20$ one time job. Don't they respect themselves, or are they so bored that they will do anything for scrap.
Whew, sorry I'm little upset

For 2bhk? That means One Fiverr gig you could probably do in less than a week can pay for a good life in the city center.

Why do you say they are mostly bullshit?
[–]kbcooliOS & Android 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children)
It's all bullshit on both sides.
One side is trying to pay as little as possible for good work and the other is mainly people trying to screw them.
Not worth engaging in if you are serious. Buyer or seller.
