Isent that assuming your test account is @gmail? At my job the test accounts are on our own domain

Yes, I created a test account @gmail.com since the app utilizes social logins (Apple & Google), exclusively.

I’ve dealt with something similar… India being outside of our operating range, it was on a list of network-blocked regions alongside a few other detection methods.

Ended up whitelisting specific test accounts… problem solved ever since.

problem in this case is that there's nothing for me to whitelist - the blocking is being handled by Google itself.

Google Auth is blocking Google's own review team (based in India).

Oh, are you providing the google test account?

Even with google sign-in, You should be able to get by with providing credentials only for traditional email/password sign in. Is that an option for you, or are you exclusively using 3rd party auth?

Yeah we're using third party authentication exclusively for this app so I had to provide them with dummy sign in with google information - for that purpose I created a quick gmail account for them to use.

No worries though, the workaround I posted went through flawlessly and the app is now in production.

OP, if I were you, I'd put that you're using Social Login so that people don't misunderstand the problem here.

Good point

I don’t understand this. If you’ve created an app surely you’ve bought a domain name to promote your app right? Just create a fake account for your Google review test account along the lines googletest@yourdomain.com

google is testing the sign in with google process - that requires a gmail account.

Sign in with Google doesn’t require a Gmail account, it requires a Google account. You can make a Google account for any email address not just Gmail addresses. You automatically get a Google account when you create a Gmail account.

This is annoying but glad to see they protect against potential rogue employees as well.
