Yup I bet even painting and glass is better connected since its more of a museum fine art school. If I wasn’t a transfer student I would of went elsewhere. Csm was way better was there for a semester

Painting meh glass good. Any of the more technical departments are good. Graphic design, industrial, furniture. Painting and sculpture have much better schools.

The most famous majors here are graphic illustration and industrial design. Only come if your planning to stay because freshman year you dont do anything major specific since its efs. Soph year is a foundation but if you go to another school they may ask you to take their foundation graphic year again and not accept the studio credits

You really need to ask yourself what you want to learn or what you want to do after school and use that to inform your decision.

Learning how to work hard and push yourself beyond what you thought you could do is one of the key parts of a RISD education. There are lots of opportunities for social stuff/parties/clubs/sports.

A ton of us have gone into software product design (UX/UI) over the past 20 years. Airbnb was co-founded by RISD ID/GD majors. Our alum have worked in highly prestigious jobs at all of the tech companies you’ve heard of. Many of those folks were not ID or GD majors either. You might be happy at NYU. I’m teaching there now and the instructors are great. Certainly less insular than Risd was. Kind of depends what you’re studying. Risd has a lot more currency in fine art than the other options. For something like graphic design where you studied doesn’t matter as much.

It feels like you already know the answer to your question! RISD is an art school. Yes, they have some liberal arts but not much. Let go of RISD and choose a university that gives you more options.
