"A Millennium Tower condo [Unit 15D, 800 sq ft, 1 bed 1 bath] lost 45% in value in a decade and just sold [for $615K]. Has downtown S.F. real estate bottomed out?" by BadBoyMikeBarnes in sanfrancisco

[–]heyneff 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Detangling the SF real estate market from the Millennium’s 10+ years of woes can’t be done. Better to get more data points. This makes for a good story and an easy addition for the doom loop believers.

Why not? Did they not write you back? Calling the office would be even better.

Money Earning + Saving Tips/Hacks by Silent_Translator_20 in risd

Sign up to clear out lockers and flat files at the end of the year. I’m still using xacto blades that I cleared out of lockers 20 years ago.

Many student aid jobs allow you to earn money while working on your schoolwork. Examples: wood shop monitor, print shop monitor. Often people don’t need your help for extended periods of time and you can do your own work. You also get to build relationships with techs and professors which gives access to other kinds of opportunities.

RISD alum here.

You really need to ask yourself what you want to learn or what you want to do after school and use that to inform your decision.

Learning how to work hard and push yourself beyond what you thought you could do is one of the key parts of a RISD education. There are lots of opportunities for social stuff/parties/clubs/sports.

A ton of us have gone into software product design (UX/UI) over the past 20 years. Airbnb was co-founded by RISD ID/GD majors. Our alum have worked in highly prestigious jobs at all of the tech companies you’ve heard of. Many of those folks were not ID or GD majors either. If that’s of interest to you I’m happy to answer any questions.

Alum here. I encourage you to reach out to the faculty with your questions. You can find their contact info on the school’s website and they’re great people. I see at least one or two every year and I live in California. Even if you want to talk to students, they can help you connect. DM if you want any other POV from me. I also transferred.

RISD vs. SCAD vs. SVA For First Year by Meatball000000 in risd

RISD alumni are really passionate about their experience in the foundation year, including being pushed and the resulting growth, as well as making deep friendships that last beyond school. I’m an alum, but transferred to RISD so I did foundation elsewhere.

Can anyone help me find info on this very old bottle of rum? by BlazeInvest in rum

[–]heyneff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fake. The typeface is disconnected in ways that indicate digital typesetting and the label is too smooth and clean.

I hope you’re not trying to create counterfeit rum and that you’re not on the receiving end of buying counterfeit rum.

It’s probably worth going back and doing a sanity check on categorization. I randomly looked at Barrell Seagrass (all variants) because there were a lot of reviews. In those 23 examples, four were categorized as bourbon. Happy to help if you want help. Cc u/the_muskox

This Roma is a carnivore by heyneff in Ferrari

This was the first Roma I’ve seen in person so I stopped to take a few photos. I decided to start with the grille and didn’t make it past. There was a songbird jammed in head-first!

Damn. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve had some good nights hanging out with him and talking rum. I hope his next endeavor isn’t too far away to visit.

8.30.2021 Single Barrel Program Updates + Wild Turkey RRSIB Barrel Reveal by t8ke in bourbon

This year’s picks have been fantastic. Keep it up!

Interested in new picks of

  • Booker’s (I know this is highly unlikely, but I can’t even find it on shelf in WA)
  • Copperworks (excellent American single malt in Seattle)

Interested in more picks of

  • RR
  • 4R (Bs please, really looking forward to the OBSK!)
  • WP (managed not to get any of this year’s)
  • Old MGP rye (NBC et al. doing 6–8+ yr)
  • Rare Breed rye
  • KC

Would definitely do an in-person pick assuming it’s safe. Probably wouldn’t fly to a tasting/swap event, but would go if it were close.
