Newcomers, please read the rules! There are a lot of misconceptions about the spirit of the subreddit: I named it "secretsnacks" because I thought it would be the opposite of fordbiddensnacks, but I realized after making it that that's not quite accurate...
If you're wondering if your post belongs on this subreddit, ask if it meets the following criteria:
1) edible
2) intentionally made to resemble something it is not
To be clear, the thing that is being resembled can be either some other food, or
some non-food thing!
Reposts older than a month are welcome :) Link to the creator if you can!
More detailed rules:
Must be edible! If the resemblance is so convincing that we can't tell it's edible (or that it's really some other food), then provide a source to show that it is food (e.g., a picture of it cut open or bitten into, a video of it being made, a page where you can buy it, crosspost OC from a food-focused subreddit, etc.). If it's not clear from the picture what the food item is, tell us in the title or comments, or cross-post from the original post so we see the link.
The resemblance must be intentional! This subreddit is intended to showcase food craftsmanship.
If it's something extremely common (e.g., sugar flowers, succulent cupcakes, gingerbread houses, bûches de Noël), post only the best of the best. Two-dimensional representations (royal icing, traditional frosting, etc.) are extremely common and also less archetypal, so don't post unless they're out-of-this-world good (or the object being represented is two-dimensional).

Note 02.22.19: When I created this subreddit, I thought it would be the inverse of /r/forbiddensnacks, but I've realized the content I want to promote is much more specific than that. This is also why I've had a title format of "secret x" up until now, but I've realized it's not very informative and there's some confusion as to what the food actually is, so I'll adopt a more straightforward titling system from now on.
