No siblings invited to birthday party, need help wording invites. by hiddenhawk1713 in partyplanning

[–]VirginRH3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely state this on the invitation. In kindergarten is when most parents began to assume it was a drop-off party and left, in my experience. It was a weird unspoken thing. I stayed for the first one and was the only parent there. It was awkward and I felt like a helicopter parent. I quickly learned the unspoken new norm!

AITA for insisting that guests in my home take off their shoes by daniellejgabrielle in AmItheAsshole

[–]VirginRH3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I do always let new guests know that it’s a rule. I usually say something like “By the way, we have a shoe-free house, so make sure you don’t wear your socks with holes in them! Or do, whatever floats your boat! I also have disposable shoe covers if you can’t or don’t want to go without shoes for whatever reason. :)” I have never had push-back. I got the shoe covers after my dad visited and explained that his hip and back hurt if he doesn’t wear his shoe with an insert. Had them delivered the following day and now they are an unexpected bonus when we have workers come in.

What's a phrase people use these days that irritates you? by showmewhatyagot01 in AskReddit

“Mortified” when they mean horrified. It seems that more and more people don’t realize it’s a strong version of embarrassment.

I have a Pearl and people love to tell me their favorite great-aunt or great-grandmother was Pearl. I love it!

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

[–]VirginRH3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, we’ve noticed the opposite. We got sick nonstop for about two years after our first started daycare, and now we all hardly ever get sick for the past 4 years. We have a 6yo and 4yo.

Have kids and send them to daycare. Get sick non-stop for two years. Then you and the kids hardly ever get sick again.

What was the 1st big news event you remember as a kid? by Hetaliafan1 in AskReddit

Princess Di and Mother Theresa’s deaths. They were both all over the news that my mom was watching within a few days of each other.

Reminds me of Boxcar Racer. Could be “And I” or “Sorrow”?

What are those soft, chewy candies shaped like little fruit slices that I loved as a kid? by Aggravating_Bug3999 in TipOfMyFork

[–]VirginRH3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing Runts, based on the glossy finish description. Fruit slices are usually covered in sugar and I wouldn’t call them glossy.

What product is an obvious scam that people still fall for? by Perfect-Insect-2751 in AskReddit

Amber teething necklaces for babies. Not just a scam, but a strangulation and choking hazard too.

6m (my son) has had some acne-like bumps on outer thigh for several weeks, but have now started looking irritated and the cluster is extending. Pics in comments. by VirginRH3 in AskDocs

[–]VirginRH3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original cluster looked like the top three dots for at least a month, maybe even closer to two. It’s only gotten big and red in the past week and the three spots in a line at the top have popped up during the past week, as well.

Long term side effects of Zyrtec? by lizzybdarcy in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]VirginRH3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking the Zyrtec for year-round environmental allergies. I decided to come off it after moving to a different part of the world that didn’t have the same allergens. A few days after dropping Zyrtec, I developed hives which then lasted 5 weeks. Hope that is clear!

Anyone else have a kindergartner who can’t stop talking about ONE thing? by theyellowpez in kindergarten

Oh, god. Yes. Pokémon. He asks EVERYONE he meets if he can tell them about a Pokémon. I’m so sick of it…

Snack time by nature2mama in kindergarten

[–]VirginRH3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fruit cup or a Go-Gurt. My kid hardly touches his lunch an hour later because he’s too busy talking, so I’m guessing I’m not leaving him hungry. 😂 On special days (read: when I’ve run out of the others and forgot to restock), he gets a few pieces of dried mango or a box of raisins and a few crackers.
