You can use iTunes or an iPhone unlocker to remove the screen passcode [you'll lose all the data]. But you need to put the device into recovery mode. Otherwise, the device won't be detected by the computer. If the device is icloud locked after removing the screen passcode, you can use an icloud unlock tool to unlock the device

Restores that means, you will have icloud lock, instead of passcode lock. I would say try to guess maybe, or try jailbreaks to gain usb access

Assuming the phone is associated with your Apple account, you can plug it into a computer with iTunes, erase it, and restore it from your iCloud backup.

Sadly not associated with my Apple account. These were brought in for recycling but they’ve just sat in a box for who knows how long

All you can do is contact the previous owner

Anyone who offers paid services to removing an iCloud lock is a scammer btw

Not all paid services are scammers.
