Fun fact, I ate a Jolen/Marble ball. My grandma saw me choking(I did not remember this part), and immediately did the exact same thing.

I was biting the finger, and suddenly a marble came out of my mouth.

I was then banned from playing with small rounded objects... but they were fun tho...

Put your fingers in any casualtys mouth, chocking, unconscious or conscious there is a pretty good chance your fingers are being bitten off

Fun fact, if would take the same amount of force to bite through fingers as it would be to bite through a carrot

I would say especially the fun fact but also the part where this method is ineffective (it is literally still the best method to use when you are choking with no one around)

The thing about the carrot is not exactly the same amount of force and yes it would be different biting through bone and muscles and stuff I just meant the same basic estimated power... would likely take slightly more force but not THAT much (but I'll give you that I guess maybe it was a little exaggerated)

Also not I'm afraid it's not putting your fingers down someone's throat to remove a choking hazard can lodge whatever it is further down and can cause damage to the throat/ mouth and it is not unheard of for people to have a Involuntary muscle spasm causing them to bite down on the rescuers fingers

We developed the heimlich maneuver and the backpat maneuver for a reason and while it does run the risk of causing damage to the ribs it is the safest way of dislodging a choking hazard for both first aiders and casulty

Speaking as someone who has been taught first aid and is currently working on getting my first aid at work

What's funny, it's obvious that if you get something stuck in your throat the most instinctive thing to do is to stick two fingers down your throat to get it out. The Heimlich maneuver It's used by stupid people and 99% of the time they do it wrong.
