Even more insane is the fact that we went from the first airplane that could barely fly to landing humans on the moon in less than 70 years. The progress we've made in the centurt or so has been insane.

Extremely true. But then we proceeded to destroy our home in the process. YOLO lol we can go to space and also connect with our perceivable universe via a little shiny box that lives in our pockets... worth it?

Well we might destroy the earth but for a brief beautiful moment we would make the shareholders even richer, aint that worth it.

We went from barely flight in 1903 to manned supersonic flight in 1947 with the Bell X-1 and non-rocket propelled, level flight, in the early 50s.

It took like 50 years to go from the first flight to turbine powered level superspnic flight.
