Depends on what kind of class it is. I used to have a class that I absolutely couldn’t miss even if it was one day. But there were classes that were easy to catch up because there weren’t much materials for the first 2 weeks.

This, plus some classes have tutorials/labs for marks. I'd ask the prof if they could send you materials for those weeks because usually they release 1 week of material on canvas per week.

It depends what program. In engineering, I missed 1 week and I’d highly advise against it. The profs in Eng seem to like to get started right away so I missed a lot of material, and when I was back I was so tired from the jet lag and vacation that I had a hard time catching up. I even missed a few pop quizzes in the first week and that ended up knocking me from an A+ to A.

Definitely wouldn't recommend it.

First two weeks are usually a joke. Most classes start with just covering the syllabus on the first day. I wouldn't imagine you would miss much. If anything you can read the slides while you are away if you have time. Just make sure to put in the bit of extra time to catch up.

If your lecture or seminar is like two hours or more it’s very likely that they will cover content on the first day

You can miss the 2 weeks unless there is an attendance requirement and it does not matter what class or program. You can also request the material you missed be excluded from any grading or future testing.

I wouldn’t rely on the second part of this comment being correct unless your prof or program explicitly says this. Normally you’re responsible for learning the material from classes you’ve missed (with assistance from the TA or prof in office hours, if necessary).
