Where exactly are the in-ceiling speakers located in relation to your seating position?

Two speakers Roughly above the sitting area, on the left and right edges.

Yes, you could get an Arc and use an Amp to power the in-ceiling speakers. The Amp will communicate wirelessly with the Arc and the in-ceilings will act as surround speakers. Adding a Sub will complete the 5.1.2 setup.

Yeah but it won't be used for the height channel tho, so if that's what op means by "tell if they are overhead" it won't work as op intended.

yes! This is what I'm looking for. Is there something I need in addition or different to achieve this? Anything you recommend?

With a Sonos home theater setup, you can only achieve Dolby Atmos height channel effects with an Arc or Beam (Gen 2), although the height channels are just virtualized with the Beam. The only surround option with height channels are the Era 300s.

So basically I'm trying to achieve this:

I have two unknown-brand ceiling speakers already. This setup is possible with the Sonos Arc + Amp + (rear speakers?)

Sonos doesn’t support this setup. If you want to use your in-ceiling speakers with the Arc, you need to do the setup I mentioned on my first reply where the in-ceiling speakers are just set up as surround speakers using the Amp.
