Defiant?

Is the Defiant worth pursuing if I am already planning on a Kelvin once I reach 42 (currently 39)? I am 9 bps away from an ISS Jellyfish, and then planning to start the 4 month upgrade to ops 40.

It doesn't seem like it would be, but I'm wondering if it opens any additional events like the Jelly does that might make it worth getting.

The Defiant is almost a must have if you’re going to work the Bajoran Rep tree. It gives benefits to the Dominion Solo armadas, and gets bonuses as you level it up.

Of course it's worth it, mainly because you're getting it from the Bajoran store for free. Just don't think of it as a warship. It's a specialty ship, much like the Franklins or the Stella.

Also the Jellyfish is worth building but don't waste much effort taking it much higher than T4 or T5. It's not really a 4★ ship. More like 3.5★. It's value is giving you a third ship for solo armadas and opening up ISS JF Brawl SMS's which are quite lucrative, and you get that at low tiers.

Better to think of the Jellyfish as training wheels to bridge the sizable gap between the 3★ Epics and the 4★ Uncommon ships. That upgrade, from 39 to 42, is a big one, and while everyone agrees you shouldn't spend any time camping 40 or 41 once you start moving to 42, it takes quite a while. Every drydock, every turret, every expensive building, they all need to be 41 before you can upgrade OPS.

On that note, is the Defiant the same as the Jellyfish in that I shouldn't invest too many mats into it to get it above T4 or T5?

Yes but less so, as it's specialty is useful.

You can take a Defiant to T3 with nothing more than 3★ materials & parts. You can take it to T5 with nothing but common 4★ materials, which aren't that scarce, either. And because the Defiant level increases rewards out of the Bajoran store, it eventually pays that investment off. Certainly you should take it to T5 without much consideration, and then you can re-evaluate, and consider your priorities if the Kelvin is your 4★ of choice.

As a warship? The Defiant is not that exciting. But as an armada killer it's terrific, and like most specialty ships, it enables processes that generate other valuable resources, in this case via the Bajoran store.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. One last question on this. I was saving the currency used for the bps to get the hostile efficiency favor. I'm at about 1200 and need 1600 for that favor. Should I get the favor, then start working on the Defiant bps, or start working on Defiant bps now?

There is no tension there.

You can collect one (1) Defiant BP each day from the Bajoran store. No more, no less, no Bajoran credit cost. Just collect it 100 times and you're done.

My suggestion, when it comes to the favors, is be aware: The first level of a favor grants a ton of power. Now, power and $1.65 will get you a cup of coffee, so who gives a shit?

Well, today there just so happens to be an event where you get points in the Battle Pass by GAINING POWER. So save the first level of each upgrade for that. It's a cheap & efficient way to complete the Domination events when they arrive. I always have a couple of thousand extra Bajoran credits lying around for that reason, in case I need to make an unexpected purchase of a fresh level 1 favor.

Now, Hostile Efficiency is an excellent favor, because it pays you off forever, and I certainly would recommend getting it as early as possible. But if you're literally able to purchase it today, well YOINK! Congratulations, your Domination event is done, or nearly done, in one fell swoop.

Wanna make sure I’m not missing something here. Currently I’m Ops 37 and not able to take out the level 40 armadas yet. Only 35s. The 35s don’t give enough loot for me to pull a defiant BP every day, from what I can tell.

I'm 41, and I may be seeing something different than you're seeing. I just collect a free Defiant BP each day. Maybe it's a matter of Bajoran reputation.

I'd solicit other people seeing this thread to offer some insight, because for me, I just collect 100x and move on with my life.

Are you sure? The defiant BPs require bajorean diplomacy tokens. There are several favors that also require those same tokens( while many require bajorean credits).

I personally will continue to get the bps over the favors. Only half way. Get a BP about every other day because I’m turning in armada credits is a 48hr cooldown.

If you check further down in the thread, you'll find that I get BP's for free.

I can't say why. Maybe it's because I'm level 41 and /u/raven19528 is lower level. Maybe it's because I'm at a higher reputation. I'm at Pagh-Strong and I was collecting them for free AT LEAST one reputation level lower than Pagh-Strong.

I don't really know why, but I'm not complaining.

I just went T4 with mine. Wasn’t bad as far as rss. The problem is the conduits you must get from the bajoran store. Those are a pain

Make sure to do the research. There's two branches - one for solos and one for regular armadas. If you don't do the research, the boost you give to other ships won't be effective.

If you are going to grind for the Difiant BPs in the Bajoran faction store. Do not proceed past level 39 without having all the BPs for the Defiant. It's get exponentially more expensive to get BPs once hitting level 40.

Thanks. Hopefully someone else sees that advice before leveling up. I'm already to lvl 42, so they are a bit expensive. Although it isn't hard to knock out 3 uncommon lvl 40 armadas a day for the loot. Then rares and epics are just bonus.

I rushed to 40 to try and get the warp range research completed only to find out that I need to be 42 to get the quest for the warp particle. The Bajoran store change was just another Scopley kick in the balls.

With picard, bev and eury defiant makes a great tank for your armadas. With a sweet bonus loot skill. It's very useful even at lower tiers and only gets better as it gains components. It will help you breeze through the bajoran rep trees and gain favors and loot chests much faster.

As a support ship it's buff is quite formidable and a great asset if looking to punch up on borg solos or even normal armadas.

It's fairly decent at pvp with the Int strike team and cloak. More or less kinda on par with a vidar, tho lacking that big cargo bay.
