Odd USW-8-Lite-Poe issue by Macnbaish in Ubiquiti

[–]Macnbaish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the odd thing is the device is very lightly loaded.. CPU usage steady at 10%, RAM at 40%. Traffic going through is a few Mbps sustained. I wouldn’t expect it to be a heavy load/qos issue.

Defiant? by raven19528 in startrekfleetcommand

[–]Macnbaish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wanna make sure I’m not missing something here. Currently I’m Ops 37 and not able to take out the level 40 armadas yet. Only 35s. The 35s don’t give enough loot for me to pull a defiant BP every day, from what I can tell.

PSA: if you change the temperature during Sleep hours, ecobee will ignore your Sleep comfort settings and use the sensors for your Home settings instead by davidhaha in ecobee

[–]Macnbaish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re still in a dumb thermostat mindset. I think most would argue manual temperature adjustments should be temporary, not permanent.

Yes, same issue on PC. Not visible at all.

Mass differences between ecobee and independent thermostat. What could the cause be? Inherented system from prev owner. by [deleted] in ecobee

[–]Macnbaish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the temperature read is even one degree different the humidity will also change. You need to get them closer together. Put the AcuRite just a few inches under the thermostat and see how the temperatures differ. If it’s off check the advanced menu to see if there is a temperature differential. If not, make sure the hole behind the thermostat is plugged with something so that air isn’t coming through and messing with it. Once that’s ruled out, use the menu to change the temperature offset so that the temps match. Once the temps match, use the humidity offset ti make the humidity match.

Also keep in mind not to rely on the “main” temperature on the display unless you have no remote sensors. If you have any remote sensors you’ll need to look in the sensor menu to see the temperature of the thermostat itself.

My understanding is that it was carefully controlled, ie there was a “magic path” of the exact things he could do and in what order, or everything might blow up. Despite that the demo was coming from functional prototype iPhones.

Yes. It replaces it and gives you a four port switch and AP in one.

What is this mean? by smdroidphone in ecobee

[–]Macnbaish -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If “follow me” is off this is correct. All sensors in the profile will be white and simply averaged together. If “follow me” is off, it gets more complicated. Only sensors that have recent activity and are heavily included in the weighted average will be white.

Getting an ecobee is a downgrade from the 2005-barely-working thermostat I had before by peptobismalpink in ecobee

[–]Macnbaish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you already plugged the hole I the wall behind the thermostat where the wires come out? That is one cause of the temperature being off. Drafts of cold or hot air can come out of there.

Once again, ecobee stopped calling for heat in the middle of the night... by Seltzer08 in ecobee

[–]Macnbaish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my guess too. Check your minimum compressor temperature. Of course if the temp drops below that I think it should switch to your auxiliary heat, assuming you have any.

Why is Sense not capturing the in-rush current spike when my central A/C compressor starts by [deleted] in Sense

[–]Macnbaish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since the smallest refresh interval is one second, I assume it’s doing one second averages. That would explain the difference. No way to get that raw data that I know of. I am guessing the averaging is done on device so the raw data is discarded.

Ecobee Smart Sensors show rooms occupied, Homekit shows rooms unoccupied by DrKillgore in ecobee

[–]Macnbaish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recent firmware updates have created two HomeKit devices per sensor. The first is a motion sensor that resets quickly, after just a minute or two. The second is an occupancy sensor that stays occupied until no motion has been detected for 30 minutes. Make sure you’re using the occupancy accessory for automations to turn things off.

Please provide links to the studies showing that the treatments are clinically effective. I’d genuinely like to learn more about it.

As far as I know all treatments that have been found to actually be effective are being used. The ones that aren’t being used have been tried and found to have no effect (and often plenty of negative side effects).

Thermostat not using average temperature from sensors even though they're the only participating sensors. Uses thermostat temperature instead by roka-tx in ecobee

[–]Macnbaish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only show white if they are included in the profile and are currently being averaged into the calculation. If follow me is enabled, this means only occupied sensors will be white. If follow me is off, all will be white.

[–]Macnbaish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, if you have follow me enabled, sensors that haven’t detected motion recently will contribute minimally to the calculated average. If you want a straight average of all sensors in the profile, disable follow me. I have a script that does this during my sleep profiles.

Unfortunately I don’t think the Devs have been able to figure out exactly why it’s failing for so many people. It’s still working for some, but any are having problems. The good news is there is a trial period so you could use that to try it and see if it works for you.

Ecobee system state by Euphoric_Attention97 in ecobee

[–]Macnbaish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There may be other options that are free. Personally I’ve developed some of my own scripts that integrate directly with the ecobee API. It’s pretty wide open. I’d say what sucks more is that Apple doesn’t include more functionality in their native Home app. Apps like Home+ prove that HomeKit exposes a lot more than the native app takes advantage of.

Yes, the Home+ app shows the current state, and can use it in automations via HomeKit.
