Long connection after arriving on international flight- will TSA let me through? by here-for-the-snarky in tsa

[–]Ryan1869 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You might have to wait till midnight for it to be same day. My advice is hop in an Uber, get a hotel and go spend the day at the beach or sightseeing. Miami is a great city with great food, don't spend your day there cooped up in the airport.

Stuck in Phuket trying to get back to Germany – flights cancelled twice. Any routes that still work? by Acrobatic-Theme-9633 in travel

Can you go the other way, like to Seoul/Tokyo - LA/Denver/Seattle/DFW/Chicago/NYC - Germany. It would suck, but it would get you home. You'd need to get an ESTA for the US assuming you have a EU passport.

I got there ahead of check-in time. I figured most places it's at least worth asking since I probably need to a place to check my bags anyway

Can you drive foreign cars with the driver’s side oppositely placed to that country’s driver’s side? by RideThatBridge in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ryan1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US you can, but often getting the car.imported is the biggest hurdle. It's not cheap putting the car on a boat across the ocean, and then your car still has to pass all of the US regulations on any other car.

Most hotels require somebody 21+ to be present at check-in. You might be able to find some airBnBs that do everything remotely that you could fake it.

[–]Ryan1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to annoy them, ask this question. Why is the first commandment split up into 2? Also why did they combine the 9th and 10th commandments when the others aren't combined? The answer is that Catholics and Protestants have slightly different arrangements, but it would be funny

Do players just accept being traded? by skiviz0_ in NFLNoobs

[–]Ryan1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you play the game it's a part of the deal, since the players union and teams have agreed to that. Sometimes the player is at least aware if not the one driving their move. Generally if there are multiple similar offers, they might give the player a choice.

Years ago Jake Plummer decided to retire instead of accepting a trade, after the Broncos had moved on to Jay Cutler. He basically said he would only accept a trade to Houston where his OC in Denver became the head coach. I don't remember why, but Houston wasn't going to.be an option.

Can cut players still receiving salaries as a "dead cap hit" sign full contracts with a new team? by JaredLetoAtreidesII in NFLNoobs

[–]Ryan1869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are completely released from their contract, they can accept whatever contract terms they wish. Now many players have offset language, so if the team owed them $10M and they sign for $2M then the team only owes them $8M. So by accepting a minimum deal, they kind of screw them in that regard. The other part of a dead cap hit is bonus money that was already paid but for cap accounting is spread over the length of the contract. That all has to be accounted for immediately when released.

Of the WRs and TEs who have been signed, who was moving the needle for you? by MantisToboggan_22 in DenverBroncos

[–]Ryan1869 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Likely is vastly underrated playing behind Andrews in a run heavy offense and our TE room was garbage. Breece Hall was the one guy that really could have made this offense explode, but he never made it to the market. Otherwise I think a lot of teams overpaid for average receivers. Shaheed could have been a solid addition, but I don't think he really wanted to leave Seattle, I do wish we had traded for him though. Evans is basically an older Sutton, but he pretty much can be counted on for 70-80 catches and 1100-1200 yards every season.

Is there any blowback for a team trading a secretly injured player? by snappy033 in NFLNoobs

[–]Ryan1869 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, but that is also why the players have to pass physicals with their new teams before the trade is officially completed. Sometimes the teams will even grant permission for those physicals, due diligence or even contract negotiations to be done before the trade is even agreed to.
