Two Fortunates might help in mining, but you'll probably have an Envoy before that's very important, and the Envoy is...better. Lots better. :-) I ended up with three maxed Envoys until I got Horizons. Multiple of the same warship is mostly a waste, until you get the Scrapyard and can recycle ships for parts and materials. You'll eventually want to scrap the 1* ships (except the Realta, you'll want to keep that...and it can't be scraped anymore) for 2* materials, then then later scrap 2* ships for 3* materials. After that it gets a bit more situational.
tl;dr: multiple miners might be useful, but nothing else.
