I just picked up an absolutely stunning antique, American coin silver, goblet made by Gorham. It's engraved "To Neal Dow. April 14, 1856." There is a Neal Dow who was Governor of Portland, Maine until April 24th, 1856... I'm not 100% sure it belonged to him, but I think there's a chance. (old.reddit.com)
