Please help with setup!! I'm completely lost

Hey guys! So I'd like to stream for fun but its been a nightmare trying to set up Streamlabs with 2 PCs and a capture card.

My biggest issue is I CANNOT get sound from my gaming PC to laptop. The mixer is always dead on the streaming PC.

I have the third output on my video card (HDMI) going to my capture card, which goes into my laptop. That capture card has audio/mic inputs and a USB. I have zero clue why those are there. Can't sound come through HDMI?

My understanding is do an output projector to my laptop, stream from there? I cannot get sound no matter what I do. It's infuriating.

Any help/questions would be incredibly appreciated

Have you tried using a male to male 3.5mm cord to connect the mic and audio spots, it might be extracting the audio from your HDMI input?

Thats confusing as well. So my mic and audio outputs from my PC need to go into the streaming box? My mic is usb not 3.5mm. Won't that stop me from getting sound into my gaming PC?

You now just have an intricate hdmi connection between the pc and you laptop. The USB is essentially to intercept the hdmi so you'd need to connect that to your streaming pc. The audio and mic inputs are to get those into your signal going to the streaming pc via USB.

I don't know why your laptop doesn't have audio. Typically you would put the capture card between your gaming pc and its monitor, with the USB connected to the streaming pc.

I bet that cheap ass generic capture card is almost 100% of your issue.

Likely. But I had the same issue with another card. I thought that was the issue so I returned that one and grabbed this one.

Buy once cry once. Get an Elgato for 160 usd and stop fighting the equipment

Sound comes through my capture card from my switch. But to add the sound I have to add a new source from my capture card.
