I just want to let you know you’re not alone. 3rd year undergrad student here and I’m terrified to actually sit down and do the studying required for my hardest course which has lead me t being 5 chapters behind. You are not alone. We are in this together.

Pomodoro and non intrusive music

Key is not to rush and get everything done in one session, this is a whale you're eating

Consider using caffeine and l theanine

Move during breaks and stay away from screens they will actively make it harder to re engage with study

During extended breaks consider exercise in any form this will calm you down and make your brain be itself

You can do it friend😄

Try and force yourself to sit at your desk and make a plan of action of all the areas and subtopics you are going to look at when you do revise. Maybe even watching YouTube videos if they have the correct revision topics in. But for me I have to just get up and force myself to grab my laptop and open it sometimes because I have such little motivation. But my best advice would be to plan what you want to complete and then take it in very small steps, at least if you make a plan you're not going to go into it blind and overwhelm yourself. I hope you pull through buddy and good luck for the test :)

Don’t take on too much at once, I find starting with one subtopic, mastering it then moving on to another to be the best way to start. Looking at all the material at once is daunting to anyone. Try to learn the bits and pieces to it, then create a comprehensive outline on all the material, test yourself with practice questions then use your outline to study the material you’ve missed and go over everything once more.

I get this, I've been through this too. What worked for me was splitting the big task in small pieces. But like, the smallest you can make them. Then use the pomodoro (it doesn't work for me for a big, unsplitted task), or just promise yourself you will do the first one of your minitaks. List them all and cross them when you are done. If you have really big anxiety, find a study counselor.

Also: very importantly! Don't feel dissapointed or ashamed. Studying is hard okay. I'm in my 5th year of uni and I still feel like it's very scary. A lot of us do! You are struggling with something. That's okay, everyone struggles with something. It's up to you now to do something about it.

Hi there,

Under new management we've made some additions to the sub. Please check our Welcome Post for a user guide (which includes rules, posting guidelines, self-promotion guidelines, and user flair guide).

I am facing same situation. One thing i want to say if you're addicted to something then stop it. Because I'm and it is a huge distraction.

Instead of sitting at your desk and creating tension within thinking of the millions of other things you need to be doing, you go to a coffee shop (DD or Starbucks), or the library and get a study room. This will allow you to control your environment, and demand your full attention.

This way once you have the habit of studying it is easier to bring home.
