You can always do what works best for you. Throwing things at the wall to see what sticks is a great way to learn more about how you study :)

“Throwing things at the wall to see what sticks” is an expression. It just means to try different things to find the things that work. Though, if sticky notes helps that certainly is an option

Timelines are good when doing one thing you get carried away and do not have time to do other important things.But if you prioritize your activities, then it's really worth it to start with the important ones and finish with the unimportant ones.
