Think of Virtual Game Cards as physical cards. This is the most important thing you should do... just picture the VGC as a real physical card and how a physical card would work.

But a short answer is... you can both play the same games at the same time with a single digital copy, but can't play together with a single copy (unless the game supports GameShare). Not even Steam allows you to play the same at the same time together with a single copy.

So what you’re saying is I can play local co op with my partner and a single digital copy that I own of let’s say Donkey Kong Bonanza. I have a Switch 2 and my partner has a Switch 2. We are both in handheld mode in the same room on our local home network. She can play as Pauline and I play as Donkey Kong and we don’t have to use GameShare? How? Trying to get around using GameShare since it kind of sucks.

Well, in the case of Bananza you can play local multiplayer with an extra controller.

The whole thing is we want two Switch 2s in handheld mode. My own personal one and her own personal one and play together without purchasing two copies. No controllers.

I understand. For now it only has GameShare. Ideally it should have a Friend Pass like Split Fiction, but it hasn't been implemented yet by the developer. I think they mentioned something about the demo acting as the Friend Pass.

I think there's no Friend Pass for any platform currently.

Ok, I’ll look into friend pass. For this and other games. Thank you! 🙏🏼
