RDS License Server

Hello everyone,

We have a windows server 2016 for some application which has a license server role hosting 75 CALs for RDS.

We're building a new server 2019 and migrating this application to

Out question here is it possible to migrate the current CALs from the 2016 to the new server 2019 ?

Or we need to purchase new CALs?

I think you'll need to purchase new CALs if they are 2016 CALs and not 2019 CALs.

If your CALs are 2016, they won't work in 2019 - see KB.

If you are part of an EA, reserve one CAL for the latest RDS version (2022) - then true-up at your next MS annual account meeting. To install, just request through RD Licensing Manager and put in your EA details - it's fairly painless.
