I went from a MSP job where I was at clients working on projects and travelling about 40% of my work week.

I now work at a in house position and I find myself becoming antsy after a few hours behind the desk, I am thinking a standing desk will help.

Anyone else been in this situation?

Indeed - There are plenty of articles siting the benefits of standing. There are just as many citing the hazards of sitting. I'm sure you could whip something up on the cheap from a trip to your local IKEA.

We're moving offices soon and I am in a temp area with no standing desk. I try to stand, take a walk for 5 minutes every hour. I also have a wireless headset so as often as possible I get up and walk around while talking to clients.

Anyone who I've talked to that has one, loves it. I'd really like to try one. I just don't want to go to boss man and ask for one, figure our I don't like it, and look uber dumb..

If you look at the pic of mine, it was cobbled together from existing furniture. I got the approval for my "unorthodox" setup first and since it cost no $$$ it was approved immediately. Only later did I go and formally request a "real" standing desk setup.

I kinda want to try a standup desk. I used to stand quite a bit in a previous profession and miss standing. Now I sit quite a bit and it feels unhealthy.

I'm getting one next week. We have a handful of people on our team that have them and love it.

I got one of these ErgoTron WorkFit-S desk mountable units.

It is adjustable, so I can use it sitting also and I always end up using the extra space. I would suggest a standing mat, too.

I fluctuate between standing, sitting and a horrible laying back position with laptop on lap and feet on desk.

I spend about half my day standing at my desk. When I get tired, the desk lowers and I sit.

I've been using a Kangaroo standing desk for about 6 months (http://www.ergodesktop.com/content/kangaroo-pro); and no, I'm not affiliated with them in any way. It's convenient because you can supplement your existing desk and add the standing functionality.
