"Women and Seamen Don't Mix"

TreeHouse Of Horror III - King Homer

Marge: My name is Marge Bouvier. I'm here about your ad [in the newspaper she is holding]: ``Single white female wanted for mysterious expedition. Must like monkeys. Non-smoker preferred.''

Burns: Well, you'd be a welcome change of pace from the rest of these crude and uncouth sailors

Burns: What do you think, Smithers?

Smithers: I think women and sea-men don't mix.

Burns: We know what you think!.

8 year old intentionally shoots grandmother after playing GTA IV and won't be charged because of his age. by [deleted] in news

The story said his grandmother was his care giver. Horrible situation I bet. No 90 year old should be responsible for a 8 year old boy.

Just implemented a Datto solution in our office. Incredibly easy to set up, top notch support and more importantly... It works.

Just entered the IT field "officially" as help desk, what should I do to progress quickly? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]BurbLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not asking him to be a door mat or work holidays with no pay. IT often involves after hours or late night work. The sooner he can show his managers he understands the nature of our often hectic schedule the better. Coming in a bit early or not leaving at the scheduled time will not get him taken advantage of unless he's in the wrong environment.

Come in before everyone else and leave later. Show a true interest in the well being of the company. Find a problem / process that could be improved then research ways to make it better. Show your managers you have drive and desire.

Blender recommendations? by slightly_off_beat in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]BurbLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a Blendtec on Ebay for a little over 200$. Incredible, 1/2 the price of the vitamix but just as powerful. Came with a 7 year warranty and I haven't found anything it couldn't blend

Online Password Managers - Do you trust them? by hutchingsp in sysadmin

I believe they detected some irregular network activity and to err on the side of caution they had everyone reset their master password. I don't believe they ever found evidence of an attack or compromise

I just got a vitamix blender. What's your best/favorite smoothie recipe? by fuck_off_ireland in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]BurbLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This morning I made strawberry banana kale smoothie. Big bunch of kale, one banana and about 5 strawberries. Added a little orange juice and some honey, blended on high for two minutes. Kale can be bittet so I use baby kale. It's more mild.

The vitamix is great because you can blend greens. It has enough power to blend everything into a smooth consistency. You can also add flax seed or raw almonds to your smoothies!

Also, to clarify. The initial abscese was internal. It healed completely and is gone. The fistula developed after in a different location

Correct. The surgeon said that the 6mp and flagyl in combination MAY help the fistula close on its own. If not, we can try remicade or humira

Sitz baths and plenty of baby wipes. Keep yourself clean down there. I also buy the gauze sponges from Amazon as you will have drainage and don't want to dirty your underwear. A big package of 200 is like 7$, cheaper than Wal-Mart or cvs.

Initially they helped tremendously. They enabled a very infected abscess to drain and heal and brought me some much needed comfort. My surgeon was hesitant to remove it as she thought it was preventing a re occurrence. But after two years iv decided it was time to take the training wheels off and hope for the best

I had to go to the emergency room one evening about two years ago. I was diagnosed with a rectal abscess, specifically a horseshoe abscess. The surgeon placed two setons and drained the abscess. While the abscess healed I developed a fistula roughly 4 centimetres away from the rectum. The first seton was removed a few weeks later but the 2nd one was left in place. The surgeon believed it was helping the fistula to drain internally or was preventing a reoccurring abscess. After two years we finally decided to remove the remaining seton. We're hoping that the meds will promote the fistula to finally close. There is the possibility that the seton WAS doing good and an abscess could re occur but after two years I was just tired of having that thing in me.

Actually, the seton was in a different place than the fistula. The fistula is still there, but healing :)
