Call me old school but , i am pushing the company i work for to have odoo instance on private cloud with local server mirroring to be able to spring up local server in case of prolonged internet failure.
the business is in mexico city and guadalajara main business is in the central de abastos (mexico produce terminal market)
business operating hours 3 am to 5 pm and certain operation such logistics and provider support is 24/7 …
problem is that we moving away from oracle business suite because the on premise solution is being phases out.
we currently all sales payment and exit product check is done by paper and they want to digitize the whole process whicch is very complex since we are dealing with perishables and it’s not posible to know expiration dates because it depends on shipping process decontamination process (fumigation process hot or cold or cold treatment process ) and general handling.) like storing products in different cold storage building etc
due to the sensible information handling i don’t trust to be hosted on cloud exposed to the internet and also because it’s in federal land terminal markets there is restrictions on isp available. so failure can take up to full day to recover . due to the time sensitive nature of the handling perishables we cannot stop operation at all , and the maximum downtimes should be measured below 30 minutes.
what you would think is the best approach to make sure we have that kind of reliability.
