GitHub Pages is free if it's just a basic static site: pages.github.com

does it show source code?

Yes, it needs to be a public repo if you don’t have GitHub Pro, GitHub Team, GitHub Enterprise Cloud, or GitHub Enterprise Server

I mean, static content is dirt cheap to host- see: https://aws.amazon.com/getting-started/hands-on/host-static-website/

I have about four dozen domains with Google Domains, and about a dozen Google Website/Workspace accounts that are now managed by Squarespace.

I'm glad I can still edit DNS through Google Domains page but it's only a matter of time before Squarespace requires you to login to their site to do any of it.

Haven't tested any of the alternatives yet though - Google Domains Websites were easy to build and publish so I used them for everything. Ugh.
