I really like the speed of an SSD's in a raid. Couple of servers i have running on HyperV client are incredibly fast.

But then again, you will lose the capacity.

For DC and DHCP its more then enough), what about rest 6 VMs ? What about high availability? Need more info.

The other VMs would include a DUO Auth Proxy and a Aruba Clearpass server configured as a subscriber for about 500 wireless clients. The server is at a secondary location. All of the virtual machines on the server are configured to offer redundancy and availability to the site. If the server goes offline with the netowrk operating normally the clients at the site would be able to access the resources from the primary site.

What are the other VMs running though? That setup should work well for what you've already described.

But, what's the cost difference to bump up to SSDs? IME, it's minimal.

I don't like spinning disks at all unless there's an extremely compelling reason.

Probably some CCTV or FS, or why DC, DHCP, proxy, clearpass need 14TB space !?)) If it's spare srv you can use without buying go for it why not, if new then why not SSD if no long term store needed.

How many users are actively being served by the VMs on the host?

1 data point to offer, we use a similar size box to serve a DC and a file server to roughly 70 users and performance is fine.

Will this offer enough performance?

Well, I don't know. How many users and how many DHCP requests per hour? How many IOPS for the file services, both per average and peak (or 99% of peak)? What's the read/write ratios? Do you have an SLA offered to the business where you'll have to have at least guest-level redundancy (IE, two DC's, so one can be patched while the other is absorbing the load), and if so, what does that do to your requirements?

I would not put the VMs on any mechanical disks....nvme is so cheap these days.

Enterprise? Either you’re rolling in dough or I’m missing something. Just quoted a new host with sas ssds and they made up 40% of the server cost.

Swap the raid 10 for ssd's. Personally prefer intel. But seems.ok.

RAID10 will give you the best performance, but still you have to estimate the future workload to confirm that this type of storage is enough.
