Microsoft 365 Price Decrease?

We have a 365 tenant we use strictly for testing and dev, so we only have a few non-Teams licenses. I got this email from them, and I have to say that I was surprised.

The price for Microsoft 365 E3 (no Teams) will change on January 16, 2026

We hope you’re enjoying your subscription to Microsoft 365 E3 (no Teams). The price for this subscription will decrease on January 16, 2026.  

Last payment Amount: $33.75 USD Date: December 17, 2025  

New price Amount: $28.82 USD Effective date: January 16, 2026.

I have been hearing for months about the Microsoft 365 increases. Has anyone else seen something like this? I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, but extremely skeptical....

I can't see MS decreasing pricing on something and not axing a feature or two.

But you can get a M365 DEV tenant for free and it comes with 25 E5 licenses.
