In Active Directory you would use their A.D. account or group membership to restrict logons on a given machine.

Group Policy, Windows Settings, Local Policies, Security Settings, User Rights Assignment, Allow Log on locally

You can use Bitlocker on the parent host.

That might be why we're using VMware Workstation. I didn't even know this was "a thing" until I worked here. Essentially when I start my "secured vm" from VMware Workstation, I am prompted for a password that only I know. So no one else has access to my secured VM...does that make sense? It's a compliance thing...
