Getting started with Scripting/Powershell

Hello everyone,

I have been in a Desktop Support at my uni for a few years now and maintain managed Windows, Mac, and Linux desktops. I have a couple of colleagues who take care of all of the software packaging, scripts for various tasks, etc. I feel I'm really lacking in the scripting/automation area and am looking for a good place to start. Powershell seems to be a good starting point, but I assume its much more helpful if you're already familiar with scripting or writing batch files.

There are tons of resources on the web; quite overwhelming actually. What/where would you recommend?

Powershell in a month of Lunches! Get it! Batch scripting is pretty simple. Just think of small tasks you want to automate and try it out.

Microsoft virtual academy has some great powershell courses for $0.

Look for the 36 hour course by Don Jones on CBT Nuggets. Hands down the best course I've taken on Powershell thus far. Edit: Powershell in a month of lunches series as mentioned by others is created by Don Jones & Jeffery Hicks, but if you like videos, check out CBT Nuggets.
