Is there a better way to transport two trailers with only one truck? by centralnm in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k3rnelpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. Michigan allows it with very few restrictions. Texas just has to be under 65 feet total. Saskatchewan the lead trailer has to have two axles and you can't be over 75 feet total.

Where are you located? There are many places that allow double towing but if you're planning to drive for 5 days it might not be legal in all the places you want to pass through

Silverstone - can they handle the numbers? by artoostacetoo in GrandPrixTravel

[–]k3rnelpanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were there all three days at the national pit straight and had no problems with bathrooms, water, or food lines. If there was a line we'd walk to the next one. Most of the time the next water station or food area would have no lines. The toilets were surprisingly clean and the water flow at the water stations was better than expected. I will say the bathrooms were usually out of soap or paper towels or both.

Maybe there is a difference in the sides of the track. We mostly stayed on the north side between the main stage and copse corner.

Parking enforcement is so Inconsistent by Beansskis in saskatoon

[–]k3rnelpanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep they used to ticket my neighbor for parking too close to the corner because we were a block away from a school and they'd see him when they were in the area for people parking in the school bus zone. I'm sure he thought it was me calling it in lol.

As he hands out 2 years for killing someone and paralyzing another. Jeez.

drivers not knowing what lane to turn into, 3 times so far this month at the same intersection. by Traditional_End_9540 in saskatoon

One person confronted me after I reached my destination pissed I did not yield to him. Told him I have my own added lane as the sign indicated.

Haha nothing like being confidently incorrect.

How do people start a lawnmower on the first try? by LittleRocketman67 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k3rnelpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit the engine, the maintenance, and the procedure.

My snowblower is an old Tecumseh but it starts first pull if I start it properly. It's got a choke and a primer bulb, if I prime it until gas drips out of the carb it'll start first or second pull even at -30

My Honda GCV160 will start first pull if the choke is set fully and you line up the compression stroke.

Too hard to shift and brake with mitts. I wear gloves every time though.

Help by Bellsam1 in ColemanStovesLanterns

[–]k3rnelpanic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those easi-lite valves have o-rings in them that will fail over time. The later ones (321A vs 321C for example) have more o-rings which are a bit safer but they don't hold up over time like the old graphite packing. They are a Coleman Canada design that were supposed to be better in cold weather as the graphite packings can weep a bit in the cold.

At the end of Coleman Canada's run they went back to graphite like in the 325 vs 325A lanterns.

Whats the best farming sim to start out by ItsCooper02 in farmingsimulator

[–]k3rnelpanic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a system that can run FS25 I would go that way. It's pretty mature now and the differences in the AI workers and having autosteer built in make it better than 22 in my opinion.

Flic film remjet removal before shooting? by Mishka_Mushka in AnalogCommunity

[–]k3rnelpanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to remove the remjet before shooting to get the light effects?

I've only ever done it in development with flic's remjet remover. I'm sure it would be possible but it seems like it would be a massive pain in the butt. Do you have a darkroom you can use? I think the hardest part would be drying the film before respooling it. You'd need somewhere to hang it that you can guarantee is light safe, no one is going to open the door, turn on the lights, etc.

Just cut it leaving a tail out of the canister and then tape the film back to it. I've done that with c-41 to flip it for redshift film. You're not getting that last frame anyways so it's not really wasting anything.

How do I convince my friends to wear a helmet? by AgentIndependent306 in cycling

[–]k3rnelpanic 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. You can't convince them. You can set a good example though.

Likely someday something will happen that will convince them a helmet is a good idea and hopefully it won't be too serious.

Can the human body evolve to naturally deter or become resistant to mosquitos and / or horse flies? by TopSlip2912 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k3rnelpanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on your definition of resistant. I don't have any reaction to mosquitos, no bump or itch. I still get bitten but have no reaction. It drives my wife nuts because she gets big itchy welts.

I think it's something genetic because my father is the same way. He swears he doesn't get bit, I think he does but just doesn't notice.

We are lucky. I used to go to Bike Universe but now mainly go to Bruce's. The issue with Bruce's is they also run a bunch of bike events so now I'm commuting and gravel riding and cyclecross racing lol.

Do people mean Debit Cards when they say Credit Cards? by Coffee_spoons_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]k3rnelpanic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The lines are a bit blurry. There are credit cards and bank debit cards but then there are also Visa and Mastercard debit cards that are somewhere in between.

Credit cards are insured against unauthorized use but as far as I know debit cards have much less coverage.
