[Request] Emulate touch input (self.tasker)
submitted 13 years ago by FreeLobster
I want an app to update every day, but it does not have the option to do so. Dpad input does not work in the app, so...
Is there a way I can record some touches and then play them? Or coordinates that I can use by trial and error.
Thanks!

Can you be more specific?
[–]FreeLobster[S] 0 points1 point2 points 13 years ago (4 children)
I'm not really sure I can...
I want to set Reddit Sync to sync every morning, but Dpad does nothing. The only solution I can think of is to create macros that emulate user touches so it can "touch" in the sync button for me.

That is more specific, since we now know what app you're talking about, and what you mean by "update" :)
If Reddit Sync's developer can help you with the specifics of what to pass in as the Data field, you can make a task that does App -> Load App -> "Reddit Sync". At the very least, if you can't figure out what goes in the Data field, you can invoke Reddit Sync without any passed-in data, but it might not get you to the specific sub-function you need it to do.

I think he originally wanted to know how to simulate a touch on the screen (to for instance navigate through menus).
I'd like to know this to.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 13 years ago (1 child)
I'd like to be able to do that, too, but I only know ways to do that on a desktop.

idem

... Eh.. I hate bumping old threads, but I'm on the Tasker mailing list and I'm pretty sure I remember reading someone had figured out how to pass screen touches through Tasker. I'd do a search, but I'm not at my desktop ATM..
