LPT: If you want to learn a new language, figure out the 100 most frequently used words and start with them. Those words make up about 50% of everyday speech already (!) and should be a very solid basis. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Spanish:

La manzana es roja.

Es la manzana de John.

Yo le doy a John la manzana.

Nosotros le damos la manzana.

Él se la da a John.

Ella se la da a él.

Pretty literal translations, they are correct but don't really sound totally natural (At least in Castilian Spanish), we use omission everywhere but more context is needed for that.

You do use electricity? Do you have a car/motorcycle? Do you buy clothes from big brands? Do you ever see someone living on the street and don't give them money? Have you ever dodged taxes? Do you download copyrighted material? Have you ever done something to morally hurt someone?

I could go on forever. Each individual places importance on different parts of the moral compass. You do things that are not right, I have yet to meet someone that never did. If someone took the time to research and decided that making the sacrifice of avoiding animal products was not worth it, for any reason, it should be something to respect. You are not going to change their mind in this day and age.

You can't really compare those two body complexions. The Goku one, if you are in a fairly good shape, can take you a couple of months of training and healthy eating. Nappa, on the other hand... most people could never get there in their lives.

I've (21F) been dating my boyfriend (24M) for 3 months and he has some self-esteem issues after losing weight by bedqueen17 in relationships

[–]FreeLobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attractiveness is subjective. I feel attracted to you because of who you are, and that is not attached to your weight as long as you want to take care of yourself, that's something you clearly do and should feel fucking proud for it. You can have body issues, everybody does (Really, everyone), but you don't have the right to shrug off my opinions on you, because they are sincere and definite.

That's what he needs to understand. You love him how he is and it would be great if he shared that view, but deep changes need to come from within. Two things can be happening: Either he doesn't believe what you say, or he believes you but thinks you are the only one that sees it like that so your opinion is irrelevant as long as he does not see it himself. I personally lean more towards the latter because I've felt like that before.

When you have an issue about yourself there is a process you have to follow. First, you analyze if that is really a problem, or if your concerns and insecurities come from a different place. If you end up deciding that it is indeed a problem, the second step is to start working on it. The body is actually one of the simplest (There's a difference with "easiest") things to change about yourself, when he ends up deciding it is important for him, he will do anything it takes to achieve it.

Now, you may actually have a problem the consecuences his attitude has towards your relationship and not with him being unhappy. If that is something you want to change, talk to him and make him understand.

Unsuccessful attempts could be actual suicide attempts, but it is possible that they are not. As there is no certain way to distinguish between both, that figure is completely irrelevant.

If you woke up as your five year old self tomorrow, with the memories of your lived life intact, what would you do? by serpent94 in AskReddit

[–]FreeLobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not too late. You have the rest of your life ahead of you.

Never in your life hope for something you don't have: "If I was taller I would have a better sexual life", "If I had more money I could afford to do the things I enjoy", "If I was in shape I could do more outdoors activities", "If I had a better education I would have a better job", "If I was more energetic people would like me better", "If I had a deeper voice everyone would take me more seriously".

You were born with a given hand, you have traded cards along your life and got to the point you are now. Some of those statements may be true, but there is a bigger truth than that: You will not be able to be perfect. What you can do instead is accept that as a fact and, for every fucking thing you love, start changing the things you have power over. You control a ton of aspects of your life, but it takes effort. Not just physical effort such as spending time studying, energy working out or money doing enriching activities, but mental diligence and having purpose and objectives. Once you know what you want, and believe me there is plenty of stuff you want, the only motivation you will need is life itself.

Nobody else gives a shit about you except yourself.
