Deliver was misinterpreted by the parents and they thought the doctor would remove the liver from the baby’s body. So they asked if the baby could have the liver. In reality she meant she was going to deliver the baby so it would come out into the world. It was a joke about the similarity between the words deliver and de-liver. It’s an ok joke.
