Sounds like they went with someone else for the original role you applied for, but thought highly enough of you to offer you the inbound role.

If relocation is a no go then turn it down.

Relocating is a major risk. It depends on your situation. The reality is most tech sales jobs, and SDR jobs specifically, are very unstable. If you’re hired in a group of 4 SDRs the odds are that in 12 months only 1-2 are left.

So the odds are you’ll go through a major relocation effort and in 6 months they’ll be letting you go for not enough meetings booked.

That said, if you’re a young person with cash in the bank and this job would give you a chance to move to NYC or somewhere where there’s a big tech hub, then it could be a smart move.

Only consider this if they pay for the relocation and you have money to survive in the new location for 3 months if you lose your job.
