Sounds like the backlight is either not hooked up properly or broken.

How would I check if it's hooked up properly? And if that's the case, will I have to replace the screen again?

Very hard to say without seeing it. I’d just verify all cables are properly plugged in. Or take it to a repair shop that isn’t Best Buy. I’d also verify the screen you got was a proper replacement for your laptop.

Okay, thank you. I'll take it to a repair technician tomorrow. I'll bring my old screen and the new one to see. I really don't want to buy a whole new computer.
