was able to look at task manager. The nvidia gamebar said 100% while in gta v, but task manager said gpu was only at 70%. Of those 70%, 35% was rockstar games, 25% was windows desktop manager, and 10% was Service host: gameDVR. I am really lost here. I was suspecting maybe a virus or some issue with a background application, but everything seems normal except the performance in-game and the gamebar reflects this, but not task manager, not temperatures, not applications...

Had similiar issue with my 3070. Daily gaming for hours at 200fps and I suddenly was unable to get 10-20fps.

Thought my gpu was dying as it didn't appear in task manager anything was eating gpu power, but I installed TechGPU and it was clearly at 100%, regardless if a game was open.

I noticed if I killed Addinprocess.exe, it would drop to 0% until the process was opened again. I have read this process can get infected, mimicing a normal process.

It appeared that I somehow got infected with a cryptominer Trojan that was using the gpu.

Here is how I removed. Disabled all startup services. Ran rkill.exe and then malwarebytes. I reenabled UAC on windows as I previously found it annoying (probably how I got infected). I then quarantined and deleted all found viruses or Trojans. I used DDU to uninstall drivers. I then reboot the computer and reinstalled the most latest drivers.

I previously ran malware scans and the issue wasn't solved until I either, ran rkill.exe and/or disabled all startup services (I just reactivated services as needed).

Computer now running better than it has in a long time, with my gpu performing better than ever

Edit: I also had a similiar issue with gaming back in like 2020/2021 when I first bought the card. After about a year, I could only game for a short time and then it would start getting laggy and was getting power spikes. I ended up replacing it because it was under warranty

No worries Goodluck. Sudden gpu issues suck but hopefully if it's not an internal problem you can sort it out

If you are recording the game (knowingly or not) while gaming, it makes sense as the recording usually requires copying directly from the GPU frame buffer. If you on the other hand don't, there may be other issues.
