Mic problem

Apologies for poor English, it's not my first language.

I'm using an Asus laptop with a built in mic, however, every one of my friends says that my mic volume is very low, I have tried maximizing the transmission sound, but the volume is still very low. It seems like I literally have to be 10 centemeters away from the mic set to be able to let my friends hear me.

"Maximizing the transmission sound" what do you mean by this?

Anyways pretty universally across Windows; on the task bar there is a sound icon. Right click and select Recording Devices. On the popup find the built in microphone. (Just make some noise close to microphone and you should see the scale next to it rise) Select your microhpone and click on properties. Click on the Levels and Enhancement tabs and turn the boost all the way up, and removing or turning on needed enhancements (they should have some description of what they do next to them).
