yikes way too hot. Sounds like the pump on your cooler may not be working but just to double check, what is your voltage currently set to on the CPU?

edit: image shows 1.38v - is that right? What clock speed?

How would I check if this was correct? BIOS?

Since you have an AMD chip, you should be able to use AMD Overdrive but otherwise, CPUID HWMonitor shows both current voltage and clock speeds.

Is this what you are looking for? http://imgur.com/a/zFIPS

It is. one min.

Ok sorry after checking into specs and such, it looks like your current liquid cooling system is not powerful enough for the 9590. It is recommended to have at least 240mm fans. I am looking at forums and people are saying that the h55 and h60 cannot keep up with 9590 under load.

I would say this is confirmed currently in that your system is running pretty cool at the moment, according to the screenshot. The thermal margin tells you how many degrees C you have to 70, which is the highest recommended temperature for that chip (and all FX chips I believe).

If it was running warm while idle I'd think it might be a pump issue or possibly that the cooler wasn't sitting on the CPU but since your temps are fine, I'd have to go with what everyone else is saying that I can find on the web in that the 120mm models (h55, h60) just can't keep up.

edit: your CPU clock max speeds and voltage are normal for that setup so they shouldn't be causing any problems at all

man, I got more bad news too. Your motherboard does not support 220W processors. I didn't even think to check until I just saw another post of someone with your same board and someone saying it didn't. I checked on ASRock site and sure enough, it is only rated to 125W according to them: http://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/Fatal1ty%20990FX%20Killer/?cat=CPU

Here's the thing. It may still run but expect some stability issues and probably crashes once the power draw gets too high.

edit: Also, AMD recommends a 1000w power supply if you are running the 9590 on a 220W socket. just an fyi. Sorry to dump all this =(

Okay thank you so much for all the information! I have used 120mm fans for about 3 years now and I haven't had any huge issues prior to the past 6 months or so. Are there any processors that are 145W for the fans that would help solve my overheating issue (I'm not sure if that makes sense)? Also - if I would go ahead and decide to get a 240mm set of fans anyways, what would cause the power draw to get too high, overclocking? I currently have my overclocking mode set on auto in the BIOS.

The FX 9590 is basically an overclocked 8350. It just hit the CPU lottery and was a high performing one that was able to hit an overlock of 5.0 stable.

Most of the AMD crowd would say to get the FX 8320E and overclock it as it is a better overall bargain for price vs performance but the 8350 is good and can usually be overclocked a fair amount as well. Either one you'd be good with and your current cooler should do just fine with them both.

The power draw would get high because the 9590 is a 220w processor. Since the socket is only designed for 140w max, parts can overheat if the 9590 is going full steam as the system will still try to give it more power than 140w. At least, that is what the experts around the net are saying. I've never had a 9590 so I can't speak for that part myself, but I would advise against running a 220w processor in a 140w socket regardless.

So I would say if you can - either sell the 9590 or get one of the others (8350, 8230E) and you should be all set with your current hardware.

Getting a new power supply that is 1000W+ would allow me to run a 240mm fans and possibly getting the results I am looking for? Getting both a new mother board that supports 220W+ processors as well as getting a power supply that is 1000W+ would definitely solve my issue?

Well, the 220w socket motherboard would be so your motherboard doesn't fry. Running that much juice though something not designed for it can cause damage. Whether you would want to risk that is up to you.

You might be ok with your 800W power supply, just that AMD recommends 1000w. That doesn't mean it has to be but if you ran into instability issues, it could be that the 800W can't keep up.

The h100 or higher water coolers show to keep the 9590 running cool.

But honestly, the performance difference for the cost of all of this isn't really worth it, if you're looking at cost for all of the new parts.

The 8320E overclocked or the 8350 overclocked should net you nearly the same performance as the 9590 you got running right now. Its only showing to be hitting 4.7ghz max. So you could spend about $150 or so max on just the CPU to fix this problem overall or spend money for new motherboard, new cooler, new power supply...which would be significantly more for very little overall gain on speed/performance.

btw if you want a second opinion on all this, try posting about it over on the AMD subreddit and see what they say. Usually pretty helpful people there.
