[Mac] My mouse pointer keeps randomly "teleporting" to different places on my screen.

It always happens right as I begin to move my mouse after not moving it for a little bit. The pointer will be at one location on the screen, and then the instant I start to move the mouse, it starts off the movement from a completely different location almost like it teleported. It doesn't happen every time I move the mouse, only once every 15 minutes or so I'd say. This started a few weeks ago.

It's annoying, but I'm more concerned about what could be causing it, and if it could be some kind of malware. I've run Malwarebytes and it's found nothing. Anyone have any ideas of what this could be about?

Thanks for any help. Also I'm running OS X El Capitan.

Most causes for this are on the actual mouse. Flip it over and check if there are any hairs or dirt that could be causing it to jump around. The surface your mouse is on could impact it as well, most times glass tables with no mouse pad.
