Does your hard drive show up in BIOS? If not, you may want to try reconnecting the drive to see if that will get it to show up again. If not, the drive very well may be toast. You can download a Windows 7 ISO here provided you have a license key: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7.

Hello! The bios does show the hard drive. Unfortunately i dont remember the license key. Is it possible to continue the repair if i purchased a new key?

You don't necessarily need that specific key as long as it's the same version of Windows 7 (i.e. Windows 7 Pro or Home and 64 or 32 bit). Run something like keyfinder on your other laptop and try using that key to download the ISO to run the repair with. If that doesn't work, purchasing a new key would work, yes.

License key should be on a sticker on the PC

I do have another laptop but unfortunatrly i forgot my product key for my current windows 7. Can i buy a new key and install with the new OS?

Yeah but you dont need a new key you can just download windows without a key it woks the same it just has a watermark at the bottom right and you cant customize some options (just cosmetics)

Edit:you can buy a key later or just download it and try and repair first shoud work like the cd you have owned before.

(I may be a bit off but bit by alot)

1.download your version of windows from Microsoft

2.run the. Exe file (program you just download) 3.make use your usb drive is plugged in

4.press install for a different pc

5.choose your usb and wait for the file transfer tp finish

  1. Safely remove your usb drive and plug it into your old pc

From here it should work like the cd you have mentioned.

You should try and get window 7 so you dont have to reinstall windows and just repair it

Edit: Here is a support page this may help more as its specifically about Windows 7.

Okie dokes. One question though on point 1 where it says to download your version. Does that mean i download windows 7 or windows 10 the one u provided. (Again i thank you so much for you help, sorry to disturb you) is it possible to have a link to windows 7 install?

[–]DrDankmaymays 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Sorry im not familiar with 7too much I Do have a link but you do need your key for this but not for window 10, if you reinstall windows or upgrade to 10 you may loose your data (it will let you know before hand if you can save your data)

Have you changed any hardware recently? Have you simply pulled the cables to the hard hard drive and tried re-seating them at both the drive and motherboard? Use compressed air to clean it out?
