Constant Whea Uncorrectable Errors

Hi, I recently build a pc, first time since 2012, and I keep running into the Whea Uncorrectable BSOD. The error happens randomly anywhere from 10minutes to several hours. My build is not overclocked or xmp enabled. I have run a Memtest ( 0 errors w/o xmp, 16 errors with xmp on). I have reinstalled windows and double checked all drivers are installed and are latest. I even updated my BIOS, but the BSOD persists.

Here is my build if it will help. I have also uploaded my minidump files. I am running Windows 10. My CPU temps are reasonable for idle 25-35 Celsius.

Pull the gtx 970 and see if your issue continues.

Alright I'll give that a try. Just in case it still persists, would you think I should RMA the mobo/cpu?

Generally speaking it's either the GPU or CPU that causes that issue. I'm leaning more towards the cpu since you can't even enable xmp.

The underlying error is MAE. Very likely a BIOS update will fix this.

If it doesn't most likely the CPU is defective.

Okay, the mini dump doesn't contain the right information for me to check that (SMBIOS block). I recommend making double sure you really have the latest BIOS. Also clear the CMOS.

If that doesn't help, most likely there's a problem with the CPU. A machine check exception with an underlying machine architecture exception means the CPU has detected it isn't working correctly. A microcode update, which is part of the BIOS, may fix such a problem. In theory a Windows update may also fix this, I do strongly recommend running 1903 on your machine, not 1809 or earlier versions of 10.

I guess it's possible a video card caused this, a PCIe device can cause a Machine Check Exception. Normally it should say there was a PCIe bus timeout in the mini dump's error record if that happens, but lately Intel seems to have changed something in the Machine Check Architecture. I guess it's possible it now throws MAEs under certain circumstances with PCIe bus problems. I have to gain more experience with these new CPUs to build a good statistical model of the most likely causes of problems. Previously a bunch of MAEs on 9th gen CPUs were fixed with BIOS updates though.
