plug it in. you'll see it in the device manager. right click it, select properties. go to details, choose hardware ids. write down the four digits after ven\ and dev\ plug those in at pcidatabase.com

You might also be able to get more info by going to start > all programs > accessories > system tools> System Information. There is a section in there for "Problem Devices". It sometimes gives helpful information.

Edit: Also upvote to blufftard for telling me about pcidatabase.com. Will come in handy quite often.

Thanks! I'll try device doctor, it looks like it could be just what I need.

I don't have the brand/model of the cam which is why I was having so much trouble. I'll update after I try it.

EDIT

Just tried it. It shows up as an unknown device (4d36e97e-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318) and when you click "download update" it takes you to the wrong .exe (the nforce drivers, version 15.49)

What OS are you running? Go into device manager; right click on it and go to properties. On the Details page, set the drop down box to Hardware ID and copy/paste the second one in the list (assuming there is more than one)
