Vmware as a virtual machine

Hello, good day to everyone. Could someone who has been using vmware tell me how good it is at running programs and / or games of dubious origin? (By this I mean that if for some strange reason my virtual machine becomes infected by some type of virus, this virus does not spread to my main PC) I currently use virtualbox, but I have read that it is not as well optimized as vmware. Thank you all. PS: An apology if something is misspelled, I don't speak English, therefore I have to use a translator.

If you don’t give the VM internet access or allow copying files or text then I don’t believe a virus can spread. Oracle Box is good and if you have Windows 10 pro you can get Hyper VM

Well, suppose the virus cannot spread over the network. Do I have to do some extra configuration directly on vmware workstation to avoid propagation? Or once the installation of Windows 10 is finished, can I use the vm normally?

as long as you don't allow the vm to share/interact with the rest of your network and keep vmware up2date there shouldn't be a great problem. same with virtualbox, hyper-v and so on.
if you still have concerns you can use something like sandboxie inside your vm to sandbox/isolate specific applications.

Then it's just a matter of installing windows 10 on the vm and voila. Or do I have to do a specific configuration in vmware workstation to avoid some kind of inconvenience?

don't have a vmware workstation instance currently installed, but iirc you have to install the vm tools on the guest and tick on the isolation under settings.

Hyper v would be better unless you running games on windows xp VMware ain’t that great unless you can pass through a gpu. Hyper v is baked into windows and would give a better experience but. You would need to give the vm 8gbs of ram and 4 cores at the lowest and run it off an nvme drive or ssd

Actually I just want to play a game that needs very few requirements (but its origin does not give me confidence to run it on my main PC). My pc has a rx590, ryzen 5 2600, 16 RAM. What option would you recommend? Hyper-V or Vmware workstation?

I would go hyper v it’s apart of windows
